I've been riding for over 50 years. My first pony, a Shetland, usually just walked over the "jumps" I built by stacking bits of downed branches with broom handle rails. Sometimes she'd jump, and as a kid I lived for those moments.
My dad helped me build a birdhouse when I was 5. It wasn't exactly cavaletti, but it was a start.
